How to Make Veggie Burger


This recipe of the burger will cover everything needed to make delightful veggie burgers from scratch, including the preparation of delicious homemade patties with its special sauce. So here are the instructions on how to make a veggie burger with the perfect tangy, sweet and spicy mayonnaise dressing.

1. Preparations

There is a total of eight steps for this classic vegetarian burger recipe.
First, make your breadcrumbs, if you have breadcrumbs then simply skip these steps and move on to the other steps. But for a more crispy texture, I would recommend using panko bread crumbs, these are easily available in any supermarket. For breadcrumbs break 4-5 slices of bread and add in a mixer or dry grinder, few days-old slices of bread would also work. Grind these slices to a semi-fine consistency and place them aside as these breadcrumbs will bind the vegetable patties and will make them crisp.

2. Preparing Veggies

Rinse and steam 4 medium-sized potatoes, 1 medium carrot, 9-10 French beans, and ½ cup green peas until they are softened, and rinse them till no moisture is left. Peel and roughly chop the potatoes and carrots while they’re warm and finely chop the french beans.
The next step is to mash the potatoes and let them cool down completely, after that add the chopped carrots, beans, and steamed peas. Combine well and keep it aside.
Then finely chop 1/2 medium-sized onion and crush 5-6 garlic cloves, ½ inch ginger, and 1 or 2 green chilly paste.

3. Making the Patty Mixture

Heat 2 teaspoon oil in a pan and add the ginger-garlic-green-chili paste to it and sauté for few seconds till the raw aroma of ginger and garlic goes away. Add the chopped onions sauté until transparent. Now add the seasonings like ½ teaspoon garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder and mix the ground spices with the rest of the mixture. Now switch off the flame and add cilantro. Mix all the other ingredients left, i.e. sautéed onion mixture and add salt as per taste and 6-7 tbsp of bread crumbs.
Combine everything and refrigerate the mixture.
